KATHMANDU: Making a bigger push in the international arena, Nepal’s Blue Diamond Society has announced its intent to join the international chorus condemning homophobia. It will do so with no less than a beauty pageant for third-genders on May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, it was announced on Thursday.

The Miss IDAHO Nepal beauty contest will see the participation of over 30 other LGTBI organisations in addition to Blue Diamond Society. Twenty-five third-genders spanning the length and breadth of the country will compete in the event which will be held in Biratnagar.

The pageant theme is “We all are different, we all are equal”, and will feature fashion, a talent show, performances, and questions and answers based around IDAHO and the event theme.

The aim of the event is to highlight the war against homophobia and transphobia.
