CHARIKOT: Just a week after the Sindhuli’s Mudemelung road section was black-topped, the movement of vehicles was brought to a standstill as the road was damaged once again. Apart from the vehicles, locals have been suffering to walk on the muddy road. Cheery Land Brothers Company and Suppliers was given the contract to black-top the road by the Division Road Office, Dolakha, last year but the company started the work only this year.

The company got the contract of 426 meters road to black-top the damaged road. Instead, the company handed over the work to a local sub-contractor in the last hour of the present fiscal year. Since the work did not last for a week, locals vented their ire saying the contract should be scrapped and no money should be given to the contractor.

Unified CPN-Maoist leader and local Sangin Tamang informed that they have demanded for the reconstruction of the road once again as the work was not done on time. He also alleged the budget has been misused. “We have filed complain at the Road Division Office, “Tamang said adding, “If reconstruction work did not start within a day or two then we would stage protest programmes.”

Meanwhile, engineer at the Road Division, Ishwor Bahadur Rijal said, “We have stopped the payment after we got to know about the fact.” He agreed saying that the work was below satisfaction, and therefore the office would not give the payment until the reconstruction starts once again.
