BIRATNAGAR: Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachhadar today said the country has no option but to hold the election of the new Constituent Assembly.
“As reinstating the dissolved Constituent Assembly is sure to push the country into the vortex of conflict, holding election for the new Constituent Assembly is the only alternative to bail the country out of the political crisis,” Gachhadar said while talking to mediapersons in Biratnagar.
He called on the opposition parties to go for election on the date proposed by the government. Noting that the date of the new CA election had been declared as per the Supreme Court verdict, Gachhadar vowed to conduct the polls at any rate. “The government will not backtrack from its decision to conduct the CA election on November 22. Election will be held come hell or high water,” Gachhadar added.
Asked how the government could conduct the election amid opposition parties’ stiff protest, Gachhadar expressed hope that all the parties would participate in the democratic practice.
On the budget, Gachhadar said the government was going to bring out the new budget through an ordinance.
