PRATIBHA RAWAL

From our early age we are taught that teachers are the main contributors to good

education, our future makers, and that they are responsible

for our mental growth. What’s more, teaching is regarded as a very respected and sacred profession. They not only give us education and knowledge but also teach us values and make our future bright.

“What a teacher writes on the blackboard can never be erased”. Like this quote, teachers play a very important role in our life. It is very disconcerting that some male teachers show very indigestible behavior towards girl students. Many of us have noted these kinds of activities. The teachers whom we regard as gods show such cheap behavior. How can they even think about this? I am not blaming all the male teachers and that doesn’t mean all male teachers are the same. A few teachers treat girl students in such a manner. Girl students are knowingly or unknowingly seduced by male teachers with low moral character. By their language, facial expressions and movements we can evaluate their character. If a teacher looks at a girl student with base intentions then what can she do? She can neither tell her family about this nor can she tell the school or college administration because of what would happen if all knew about it. Instead of complaining and punishing that teacher, her family will blame her and will not allow her to go to school/college anymore. The shyness found in girl students do not allow them to do so. Rather, she searches for her fault to close the chapter. Female students know how difficult it is to face these kinds of problems. They treat their teachers as resources of brilliance from whom they can prepare for further education and working life. But the bitter truth is that such teachers can easily ruin the life of innocent girl students.

Though such cases are increasing every day, there is no strict rule to take action against these teachers. That’s why these activities have not come to an end. In the name of tuition, practical marks, job guarantee they are taking undue advantage of girl students. Girl students can do little about them, and they are very much helpless. There is no place where girl students can feel secure and live with respect.

Definitely, a girl must be strong and bold enough to

protect herself from evil characters. But, in our society girls

are brought up in such an environment where she cannot protest. Our government should punish such erring teachers. Girl students should be strong enough to defend themselves. Because as long as we ignore these kinds of problems, such teachers will continue with their wretched approach.
