KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) today said it has arrested Balindra Rayamajhi (25) of Pipal Danda-3, Sindhupalchowk, from Imadol in Lalitpur for dealing in fake academic and government certificates. The Nepal Police unit said in a statement that it raided Rayamajhi’s rented room and confiscated a modern photo printer and a cache of papers used to make transcripts, provisional, migration certificates for Higher Secondary Examination Board, character certificates of valley-based colleges as well as fake documents of different government offices.
A preliminary investigation has found Rayamajhi has been involved in the illegal business for over five years and sold over 200 fake academic certificates and government documents. Rayamajhi is also found to have faked the letter pad and stamp in the name of Nepal Printing Support to order a huge quantity of Plus-Two certificates from the Desmate Company based in New Delhi. He used to sell a set of certificates for Rs 7,500 to 20, 000. CIB is preparing to press fraud charges against Rayamajhi.
