DHULIKHEL: A young woman died while two others were injured when a bus hit them at Panchkhel Kavre this morning, police said.
The bus that belonged to the Himalayan College of Agriculture Science and Technology ferrying college students for picnic to Dolalghat, hit local Puja Shrestha (25). Critically injured Shrestha succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at Dhulikhel hospital.
According to the District Police Office Kavre, the over speeding bus also hit locals Tej Bahadur Shrestha and Indra Shrestha besides Puja.
Indra Bahadur is undergoing treatment at the local health facility, while Tej Bahadur has been referred to the Lalitpur-based B and B Hospital for further treatment as he could not be treated at Dhulikhel hospital.
Meanwhile, infuriated locals turned over the bus on the road and obstructed Panchkhal-Tinpiple road section along Araniko Highway for four hours following the incident.
According to DSP Rajesh Dahal, locals allowed to resume the transportation services only after an agreement was reached between the victims, police and representative of the college.
Police have arrested the bus driver Dinesh Koju of Bhaktapur.
