One more held in scribe murder case

JHAPA: Police today picked up Ganesh Rai, one of the accused in the murder of journalist Yadav Poudel, from Kakarbhitta. An FIR was filed against Rai in relation to Poudel’s murder. Journalist Poudel was killed at a hotel in Birtamod on April 3.
According to Jhapa SP Tarani Lamsal, a team headed by DSP at Area Police Office, Kakarbhitta, Govinda Thapalaiya, arrested Rai in Mechinagar Municipality Kakarbhitta at around 4 pm today. Lamsal said Rai’s arrest will shed some more light on Poudel murder case. “Rai’s arrest can help us figure out the roles of other murder accused — owners of Purvanchal Sekuwa Corner and Guest House Somnath Dhakal, his wife Manju Karki (Dhakal) and Yubaraj Giri,” said SP Lamsal. Dhakal, Karki and Giri are already in police custody. Rai has been kept at Area Police Office, Kakarbhitta and police are yet to record his statement.
Meanwhile, a Cabinet meeting today decided to form a three-member judicial probe commission headed by former Supreme Court justice Krishna Prasad Basyal to probe into the murder of journalist Yadav Poudel. The government has given one-month to submit a report.
