KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition partners—the UCPN- Maoist and the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF)—are making preparations to come up with a common stance over the issue of change of guard, brought in by oppositions for the timely statute.

Precisely, Maoists and UDMF are all equipped to elucidate their common view on the formation of national unity government prior meeting oppositions( who have been calling for the implementation of the Nov 1 Peace Deal by forming a national unity government) on Monday afternoon.

In the meeting, which is underway at Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai’s official residence in Baluwatar, Maoists and the Terai-based parties are anticipated to muster up their earlier stance that the incumbent Baburam Bhattarai led government would continue until the promulgation of the new constitution, sources confirmed.

The coalition partners have deemed the NC and the UML’s desire to form a national unity government( at this stage when only 28 days are left to meet the deadline to promulgate a new constitution) as an endeavor to wreck the statute drafting process.

Talks aimed at resolving the thorny issues including federalism and forms of governance were sidelined on Sunday by parties devoting themselves into the chitchat over the formation of national unity government.

For the two big oppositions- the CPN-UML andNC-- Prime minister should immediately resign to pave the way for a unity government for the time statute.
