KATHMANDU: The sixteen contestants of Pashupati Paints Luxuria The Hidden Treasure Miss Nepal 2012 on April 27 showed they are talented at the Talent Show.
The show started with Anjali Pradhanang reciting poems from the Ramayana, and thereafter there was no stopping to flow of talent from the young beauties. Each participant had to perform for five minutes.
Giving a message on women trafficking, Sonam Singh performed a dance on Kahile Bhetiyela. Nirmita Subedi shared her poem Budho Bagmati Dherai Royo on the plight of the Bagmati river. And Subeksha Khadka gave a presentation and speech on women empowerment, to name a few.
What the girls put up on stage was not perfect but their confidence was not to be ignored. Other performances included a modern and semi-classical dance Kumari; rap song while songs like Polchha Mutu, Mero Nepal and Chahana Sakiyo Bahana were sung by the contestants.
The talent round was judged by music critic Prakash Sayami, composer Nhyoo Bajracharya, fashion journalist and choreographer Jayan Subba Manandhar, actress Dia Maskey and one of the board directors of The Hidden Treasure Suresh Malla. Subba-Manandhar felt that the they got to see a variety of talent. “I enjoyed the show,” she added.
For Babita Karn from Baneshwor, who was supporting her sister Sonam Singh, “All the contestants performed well in their own ways.”
Subba pointed out, “It was a first time for the contestants. So, it was good, but this is not enough for the international competition.”
The grand finale of Miss Nepal 2012 will be held at Hotel de l’Annapurna on May 6. Annapurna Post is the official media and THT Live is the voting partner.
