KATHMANDU: The Public Accounts Committee of Legislature-Parliament on Tuesday objected to the expenditure of millions of rupees from the state coffers in the name of management of Maoist camps without proper records.
Concluding that Rs 46.12 crore of the total amount spent in the management of camps of former Maoist combatants was in question, the parliamentary committee directed the government to spend money from the state coffers in a transparent manner and as per the existing rules and regulations.
In the meeting held at the PAC office in Singha Durbar this morning, lawmakers raised question over the transactions made without valid bills.
The officials of Peace and Reconstruction Ministry and Auditor General’s Office were summoned at the meeting.
