KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai reached ward number 8 of Tathali VDC in Bhaktapur district on Saturday for a night’s stay as part of his effort to know about local political and development issues. According to aides, PM Bhattarai will stay at Ramlal Newathoki’s place. During his stay, the PM will interact with locals on various political and developmental issues, his personal secretary Bishwadeep Pandey said. Last month, the PM had spent one night at a house in Jhormahangkal VDC in Kathmandu district.
Thieves caught
KATHMANDU: A police patrol on Friday night arrested Ashish Limbu (18) of Jhapa and Uttam Waiba (17) of Kavre while they were lifting a high-voltage battery from a truck in Sitapaila. The night patrol has been pressed into service in the wake of complaints that theft of motor parts is rife in the area. The two are in the custody of Kalimati police. — HNS
Bus helper held
KATHMANDU: Police on Saturday arrested Shankhamani Chaudhari (36) of Rupandehi, the helper of the bus numbered Lu 1 Kha 6505, after finding a passenger, Manilal Gurung (50), unconscious. Investigators found that Gurung, on board the bus bound for Kathmandu from Bhairahawa, had lost consciousness after taking spiked foodstuff. Gurung is under treatment at the Kalanki-based Shahid Memorial Hospital and is yet to regain consciousness, police said.
