KATHMANDU: Prime Minster Dr Baburam Bhattarai sought favour from Nepali Congress(NC) President Sushil Koirala to intensify parleys with parties—ruling and opposition—to conduct the fresh Constituent Assembly(CA) polls in April-May.
“I won’t be a hindrance to the political consensus on the thorny issues including CA polls and unity government. But I need your help,” said PM Bhattarai.
“If consensus is forged, I am ready to sacrifice,” Dr. Bhattarai told Koirala at the latter’s residence in Maharajgunj on Monday morning.
PM had reached out to Koirala only an hour after CPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, aka, Prachanda, had reached Sushil Koirala Niwas to urge the latter to transform the incumbent Maoist-led government into a national consensus government.
Former PM Prachanda and the incumbent premier Bhattarai reached Koirala’s residence at a time when the opposition parties have said that they would topple the incumbent government through street protests and won't sit for talks with government until Baburam Bhattarai leaves the helm.
