BIRGUNJ: Chairwoman of Nepal Sadbhavana Party Sarita Giri has said that more provinces and ethnicity based states in the country would be dreadful.
"Federating the country in more provinces and ethnicity based states is awful," Giri told journalists at an interaction on Saturday in Birgunj.
She opined that only three provinces--Mountain, Hill and Tarai--would be suitable on the basis of geography, capability and identity.
She also claimed that parliamentary democratic system was appropriate as the forms of governance and suspected that directly-elected President and Prime Minister could turn into a despotic ruler.
Giri also accused the present government of attempting to impose authoritarian system in the name of political transition adding that brining regional administrative mechanism under the Prime Minister's Office was against democratic norms and values.
On the occasion, she underscored the need for extensive Madhesi front to exert pressure on the government to ensure rights, pride, dignity and identity of Madhesis.
