KATHMANDU: The major political parties have agreed to amend the Constituent Assembly (CA) Rules of Procedure on Tuesday.
Today’s meeting of the four major political parties — the UCPN-Maoist, Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML and the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) at Singha Durbar decided to amend current CA regulations, said a Maoist leader Khim Lal Devkota.
As per the parties’ decision, the first draft of the constitution will be promulgated through majority basis( by voting at CA full House) by amending the CA rules and regulations. Meanwhile, the thorny issues which fail to find consensus will be again forwarded to Constitutional Committee (CC).
The CA full House meet called at 1 pm today will discuss on the amendment of the CA rules and regulations for the timely statute through voting on the contentious issues of the constitution.
Though Major political have agreed to amend the CA rules and start voting in the CA on 125 unresolved constitutional issues , parleys and negotiations among the political actors on the thorny issues will move on for it requires a two-thirds majority to endorse the new constitution, said NC leader Ram Chandra Paudel.
During the amendment, CA Rules of Procedure is also expected to add a new clause to address the arrest of a sitting CA member on criminal charges.
