The meetings of CC and BAC also have been scheduled for today.

KATHMANDU: The Problem Resolution Sub-Committee under the Constitutional Committee (CC) on Tuesday decided to extend the deadline to resolve the contentious issues regarding the new constitution by five days.

The Constituent Assembly’s Business Advisory Committee had given today’s deadline to resolve the issues related to the constitution-drafting.

The meetings of CC and BAC also have been scheduled for today.

Though the major parties including Madeshi Front held closed-door talks for two days in a bid to iron out differences on the five contentious issues— federalism, forms of governance, judiciary, electoral system and citizenship, they could not make any solid decision.

After the Sub-Committee meeting, top leaders of major three parties – UCPN-Maoist, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML – are holding an informal meeting to discuss the issues once again.
