KATHMANDU: Media Campaign for Peace and Constitution today reminded political parties of their historical responsibility of issuing a democratic constitution before May 27.

Issuing a press statement today, the campaign noted that the delay in decision making on the part of political parties regarding the constitution at the time of approaching deadline has drawn its attention.

The statement further pointed that arguments and counter arguments in the course of state restructuring are normal. However, it further said it is the onus of political parties to address the situation of misunderstanding being created among the people of diverse ethnic and geographical backgrounds without letting the disruption of the long existing social harmony.

The campaign is a joint initiative of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) and various organisations representing media entrepreneurs in the country. Nepal Media Society, Television Broadcasters Nepal, Association of Community Radio Broadcasters Nepal and Kathmandu Valley FM Radio Broadcasters Forum are other stakeholders of the movement.

Nepali media fraternity has been exerting pressure on the political parties for completing the peace and constitution-drafting processes by the May 27 deadline of the Constituent Assembly (CA).
