BUDA ROLPA: One of the two pistols, missing from Rolpa’s Dahaban-based PLA 5th Division Cantonment since fighters opting for voluntary retirement left the camp, has been returned, officials said.
Combatants opting for voluntary retirement had allegedly taken the two pistols with them. This came to light after the number of PLA weapons with the Nepali Army, which recently took control of the camps, fighters and their weapons, fell short of that reported by the United Nations Mission in Nepal .
“The Special Committee has received one of the pistols — an M 99 browning,” said Lt Col Lila Chaudhari of the committee. However, the committee is yet to get back the second missing pistol.
The division has not revealed the name of the combatant(s) who took the weapons. According to sources, combatants who were not satisfied with the re-verification process had taken the weapons with them.
