POKHARA: Pokhara residents who have been agitated demanding government to begin work on the proposed international airport have shut down marketplaces, factories, and educational institutions on Sunday.

Coordinator of Pokhara International Regional Airport Concern Committee Krishnamohan Shrestha said that they would expose those people who were against the proposed airport.

Meanwhile, Lekhnath chapter of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry has called on different organisations, business houses, civil society and local residents to pile pressure on the government.

Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents Western Region Chairman Kedar Sharma, however, informed that all sides have agreed not to operate air services to and from Pokhara airport on August 23.

Sharma warned of shutting all services for an indefinite period from August 31 if their demands were not met.
