ITAHARI: The dilapidated structure of the Area Police Office, Itahari, has threatened the lives of hundreds of staffers.
About 120 police officials are stationed at the rundown office, built during the Panchayat reign. The repair work has been put off due to budget crunch.
According to the Area Police Office in-charge Inspector Sagar Thapa, most staffs have moved to nearby houses fearful of the structure to collapse at any time. He said the building’s windows and doors were wrecked and the rooms for inmates were falling apart. “It is worst during monsoon when the office is submerged in water. We have no option but to stay awake the whole night,” he said.
