KATHMANDU: Premier and Golden Gate registered double victories to enter the women’s semi-finals of the third Nobel Cup 3-by-3 National Basketball Championships here at the National Sports Council covered hall today.

Premier defeated NASA ‘A’ 8-2 and outplayed Nobel ‘B’ 13-1 to make it to the last four as Group ‘A’ winners. Golden Gate, meanwhile, finished as runners-up in the group after easing past Nobel ‘B’ 13-4 and NASA ‘A’ 8-2. In Group ‘A’, NASA ‘B’ joined pool winners Nobel ‘A’ after their 15-4 victory over BernHardt. In another match, NASA ‘A’ overcame Nobel ‘B’ 15-4.

In the men’s section, all three teams from Golden Gate and National Campus made it to the pre-quarterfinals. Golden Gate ‘A’ defeated Times ‘A’ 15-11 while, their ‘B’ team sneaked past Warriors 9-6 before the ‘C’ team overwhelmed Times ‘B’ 11-4. Meanwhile, National ‘A’ routed Nobel ‘C’ 16-9, ‘B’ eased past Warriors 15-8 and the ‘C’ team cruised to a 15-6 victory over Premier ‘B’.

Nava Jeevan won both of their matches today to join Golden Gate and National in the last 16. Nava Jeevan defeated Nobel ‘A’ 14-11 and outclassed Nava Jeevan 18-9. However, both losing teams are already in the pre-quarterfinals. Also on Wednesday, Morgan, Triton, Trinity ‘B’ and NASA registered victories to make it through.

Morgan earned a hard-fought 17-15 victory over Triton, who later went on to defeat BernHardt 11-5. Trinity ‘B’ crushed Times ‘A’ 16-7 and NASA overcame Nobel ‘B’ challenge 21-10. The boys’ pre-quarterfinal matches will be held on Thursday.
