KATHMANDU: Premier ‘A’ and Prime ‘A’ claimed the second Premier Cup 3-by-3 National Basketball Tournament here on Wednesday. In the boys’ section final, Premier cruised to a 21-9 victory over Golden Gate ‘A’ with Sadish Pradhan netting eight points. Likewise, Gyanu Gauchan scored six points as Prime ‘A’ beat their ‘B’ team 15-13 to lift the girls’ section title. In all, 30 teams — 21 in boys’ and nine in girls’ sections — participated in the three-day tournament.


Krishna strikes gold

KATHMANDU: Krishna Chaudhary claimed the girls’ 100m gold in the Inter-region Nationwide Presidents’ Cup Running Shield Championships here on Wednesday. Anita Thapa and Sanju Chaudhary won silver and bronze respectively. Umesh Kandangwa, Anup Khanal and Kapil Chaudhary clinched boys’ 1,500m gold, silver and bronze medals respectively. Sun Maya Budha, Sangita Khadka and Radha Rai secured top three positions in the girls’ 1500m. Bimala Chaudhary, Bhagirathi and Anita Thapa were the top three finishers in the girls’ 400m, while Amrit Nepali won the boys’ high-jump event. Naresh Chaudhary and Umesh Rai were restricted to silver and bronze medals respectively.


Veterans table tennis

KATHMANDU: The third Anup Memorial Veterans Table Tennis Tournament has been rescheduled here for June 16, informed the Nepal Amateur Veterans’ Athlete Committee. The tournament, originally scheduled for May 19, was postponed for an indefinite period due to technical problems. The one-day tournament features six events in men’s above-45kg, above-50kg, above-55kg and above-60kg apart from women’s above-45kg and above-50kg.
