Prez leads big wigs in tributes to Justice Bam

The full meeting of the Supreme Court held yesterday had decided that his funeral will be performed at Aryaghat with state honours

KATHMANDU: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has paid tribute at the deceased body of Supreme Court Justice Rana Bahadur Bam who died yesterday from the bullets of unidentified persons.


President Yadav had reached the court premises at 11:15 am to pay tribute to the body of Justice Bam at Supreme Court premises kept from 8:00 in the morning.


The full meeting of the Supreme Court held yesterday had decided that his funeral will be performed at Aryaghat with state honours and will be kept for paying tribute in the court in the morning.


Paying tribute in the court premises were Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, SC Chief Justice Khilaraj Regmi, UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpakamal Dahal, NC President Sushil Koirala, CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal and ex-Speaker Subash Nembang.


Also paying tribute were former ministers, lawmakers, leaders and workers of various political parties, chief secretary, employees, social workers, lawyers and representatives of various organisations.


Justice Bam was shot at near UN Park at Shankhamul of Lalitpur while returning from Bagalamukhi Temple in a car Thursday and died at 1:30 while undergoing treatment at Norvic Hospital.


His body has been taken to Pashupati Aryaghat after a contingent of Armed Police offered salute to the late justice.The late justice is survived by wife, two sons and one daughter.
