KATHMANDU: Prithvi Malla accumulated 41 points to win the Hyundai Open Golf Tournament here at the Tribhuvan Army Officers Golf Club today.
Played under stableford ¾ handicap format over 18 holes, Gaurav Shah and Maj Gen Mahesh Bikram Karki came second and third respectively on count back after they were tied on 40 points. Ang Tshiring Sherpa won the best gross award with 35 points, while Col KS Pradhan claimed the Hyundai Owner category award with 35 points.
Sandhya Rai won the women’s section trophy with 24 points, whereas Kalpana Rana came second with 18 points. Gopal Chitrakar claimed the senior section award on count back after he was tied with runner-up Lt Gen KNS Thapa on 34 points.
Gautam Sayami claimed the most birdies award with two birdies, while Sumeed Bhattarai won the guest section trophy with 32 points. Likewise, KC Gurung and Maj NJ Rayamajhi won longest drive and closest to the pin awards respectively.
A total of 80 golfers took part in the two-day event sponsored by Laxmi Intercontinental, the sole distributor of Hyundai vehicles in Nepal. TAOGC President Lt Gen Nepal Bhusan Chand, Executive Director of Laxmi Intercontinental Anjan Shrestha among others gave away prizes to the winners.
