LALITPUR: One of the several development programmes under the AFC U-14 Festival of Football, Referee Course started here today.
Two participating referees of the Festival from each of the five nations — Nepal, India, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka — will undergo the five-day course to be conducted by FIFA/AFC Referee Instructor Noboru Ishiyama of Japan and Hussain Ghadanferi of Kuwait. The referees will get the better idea and the knowledge on the theoretical as well as practical aspects of the trade during the course.
Ishiyama said the course provides a chance for aspiring referees to develop their career to greater heights. He asked the participants to learn better so as to earn a chance to enlist themselves in the Project Future Programmes. He also said that officiating in the Festival matches would be a good learning experience for the participants and could help shape their career.
AFC Head of Youth Football John Whittle also believed the Course was unique as nowhere in the world does a referee gets such an opportunity.
