KATHMANDU: Juri-Nepal on Friday has urged the government to make arrangements for education of the children and the shelters for the evicted landless squatters without delay.
Issuing a press release on Friday Juri-Nepal said, “ The eviction of the landless squatters on May 8 has constituted serious violations of the right to life under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, 1966 and the Interim Constitution of Nepal, 2063.”
It has further asked the government to identify the genuine landless squatters and make arrangements for them prior to demolishing their settlements in the days ahead.
The Juri has also called on the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to immediately take stock of the human rights violations done by the eviction.
