KATHMANDU: Renuka Khatri of Morgan International College won the women’s singles gold medal of the third Morgan Cup Inter-college Table Tennis Championships here today.

In the gold medal match held at the National Table Tennis Training Centre, Renuka defeated Selisha Khadgi of BernHardt on straight sets. Selisha though put up a tough fighting losing the first set 14-12, Renuka eased to a 11-3 second set victory. In the final set, Renuka won 11-9.

Renuka later combined with Alina Maharjan to win the women’s doubles title. The pair had no trouble defeating Sunita Lama and Arika Maharjan of Prime 11-3, 11-2, 12-10 in straight sets. Meanwhile, the duo of Bilosh Shrestha and Ajesh Maharjan of BernHardt took the men’s double gold. Bilosh/Ajesh defeated Prime pair of Nihal Shrestha and Gaurab Ranjit 11-7, 11-6, 11-5.

Bilosh also claimed double gold after he combined with Selish to win the mixed doubles gold. The pair overcame Morgan duo of Prajjwal Shrestha and Alina 11-2, 6-11, 12-10, 11-8. The men’s singles final will be held on Saturday.
