Restructuring of NA unavoidable: CoAS Gurung

KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff Chhatraman Singh Gurung has stated that the restructuring of Nepal Army (NA) is inevitable at a time when former People Liberation Army (PLA) combatants opting for integration are all set to join the NA, with the legislative end of peace process.
“Democratisation of NA is unavoidable to achieve the national and inclusive character of army,” said Gurung while talking with the members of the Legislature-Parliament´s State Affairs Committee (SAC) on Sunday.
SAC had summoned Gurung and Home Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar, who is also warding defense ministry over the issue of restructuring the NA.
Institutional debate on the restructuring of NA has not ended but will surely continue some other day, said a committee member.
