A animal trainer has trained a group of cats to use musical instruments so that they can form a rock band. Animal trainer Samantha Martin, from Chicago, US, has trained her six cats to play tiny instruments and has formed the band the Rock Cats. The band is made up of Tuna who plays the lead guitar, Pinky who plays the rhythm guitar, keyboard player Nue and Dakota, Waldo and Fiji who play percussion. The band is sometimes joined by a chicken who can play the cymbals.
Martin’s training method is a system of positive reinforcement and clicker training, which teaches the cats to associate desired behaviour with a clicking noise and a treat. Martin says that teaching your cat through clicker training is a great way to bond and provide your pet with exercise and mental stimulation.
