KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court on Friday issued a show cause notice in the name of the Government in response to a writ petition filed against the Government's decision to provide fifteen per cent incentive from the revenue collected as penalty for violating traffic rules to the traffic police.
A single bench of Justice Damodar Sharma issued a notice to this effect.
Advocate Ramchandra Poudel had filed a writ petition at the apex court, demanding cancellation of the government decision to provide 15 per cent of the total revenue collected by the traffic police under different headings to themselves.
The petition had named the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Finance Minister, Nepal Police Headquarters and the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division as the defendants.
Besides, the petition had also sought to scrap the government's decision to provide additional 200 per cent allowance to the employees under the revenue section.
