KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court today directed the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) not to publish the result of entrance exam for proficiency certificate level of Nursing (Staff Nurse) to be held on Wednesday and Thursday.
A single bench of Justice Kalyan Shrestha issued the order following today’s hearing. Citing lack of time for discussion among stakeholders in relation to the examination, the bench allowed the examination to take place, but directed the authorities not to publish the result and date of interview.
The bench was responding to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by chairman of Madan Bhandari Memorial Academy, Guru Prasad Baral, which claimed that CTEVT had breached its own standard for launching the proficiency certificate level in Nursing (Staff Nurse) programme; for CTEVT had signed contract making it mandatory for nursing colleges to have a 50-bed hospital for practicals. Baral said that CTEVT had allowed many colleges to breach the criteria.
“It would be improper to cancel the examination, but the results are suspended till the next order of the apex court,” the bench directed.
The authorities have also summoned CTEVT to attend a hearing on whether or not to issue interim order as per the demand after seven days.
The apex court also sought clarification within 15 days form CTEVT and government authorities on why the norms of admission had been breached.
