KATHMANDU: The government is to adopt a tough policy to conduct this year's School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination beginning from the next week.
A meeting of the SLC Examination Board chaired by Minister for Education Gangalal Tuladhar at the Ministry on Friday took the decision to this effect.
Minister Tuladhar said necessary preparations are underway to make the exams more systematic and check the irregularities seen in the previous years while conducting the exams.
Tuladhar said decision has been made to lodge public offense cases against the parents who help their children to cheat in exams while the teachers, officials and security personnel involved in such irregularities will be booked as per the Acts concerned.
For the purpose, Armed Police Force (APF) will be deployed with the directive of the chief district officers of the districts concerned if security forces were needed for conducting the exams fairly.
A total of 496,243 examinees are taking the SLC exams at a total 1072 exam centres across the country this year.
