KATHMANDU: At a time when most of the fringe political parties possessing 55 CA members are on the wait-and-watch mode and the CPN-UML having conditionally decided to vote for the Nepali Congress, Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) has stated that it will provide its support to Maoist candidate Baburam Bhattarai only if Maoists get ready to amend their recently unveiled proposal on peace, statute and government.
When asked what corrections they wanted in the proposal, co-chairman of the Tarai Madhes Democratic Party Hridayesh Tripathi said the number of PLAs to be integrated should be around 6,000 and integrated PLAs should have a non-combatant role.
“We have proposed rank determination instead of rank harmonization and will trust the Maoists for the last time to complete the peace process within the next 45 days,” Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum(Republican) Vice-chairperson Raj Kishor Yadav said.
SLMM, which comprises five Madhes-based parties, is a decisive bloc in the election for prime minister today after the CPN-UML decided to vote for NC.
