KATHMANDU: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Subodh Ghimire has been deputed as the chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range (MPR), Hanuman Dhoka on Monday.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) deputed Ghimire in place of SSP Rana Bahadur Chand on the recommendation of the police headquarters, it is learned. Ghimire was deputed at the Special Bureau of Police headquarter since four months.
A highly-placed source at MoHA confirmed the new change in the valley’s police leadership.
However, when asked, police spokesperson Keshav Adhikari did not divulge any information on the matter.
SSP Chand has been transferred to the Drug Control Law Enforcement Unit, New Baneshwor.
SSP Chand had been appointed to the post during Baburam Bhattarai-led government on January 2 on the recommendation of United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) Chair Bijaya Kumar Gachhadhar, the then Minister for Home Affairs.
