LALITPUR: Samyak Bhusan Bajracharya and Aryan Subedi made it to the semi-finals of the first Boris Lissanevitch Memorial Junior Open Tennis Championships here at the Satdobato Lawn Tennis Court today.

Samyak eased to a comfortable 6-1, 6-2 win over Bistrit Gurung while Aryan saw off Aryan Giri 6-3, 6-4 in the U-10 boys’ singles semi-final clashes. Securing the U-12 girls’ singles semi-final berths were Rana sisters Mayanka and Mahika, Ira Raut and Ani Mathema. Mayanka inflicted a double bagel defeat to Vansika Khetan, Mahika dispatched Sangita Rana 6-1, 6-0, Ira laboured to a 8-6, 6-8, 7-5 win over Karuna Gauchan and Ani overcame her sister Catharine 6-2, 6-3 in the quarter-finals. Pranab Kayastha, Samrakchhyak Bhusan Bajracharya, Samyak advanced to the U-12 boys’ singles last four with all three finishing with double bagel (6-0, 6-0) wins over their opponents Arjan Dhungel, Aryan Subedi and Aryan Giri. Joining them in the semi-finals was Satyap Ilim who beat Bistrit 6-1, 6-3.

In the U-14 boys’ singles quarter-finals, Avay Gauchan dispatched Aryan Maskey 6-1, 6-0, Sakchhyam Karki saw off Subodh Udas 6-2, 6-4, Pranab beat Abi Shrestha 6-0, 7-5 and Avash Malla got the better of Samrakchhyak 7-5, 6-3. Likewise, Bibhuti Karki ousted Karuna Gauchan 7-5, 6-1, Ani eased past Sachi Gurung 6-0, 6-1 and Mayanka saw off Siwalika Rana 6-0, 6-3 in the U-14 girls’ singles quarter-finals. Making it to the U-18 boys’ singles semi-finals were Milan Rokka and Ivan-ho Lissanevitch. Milan eased to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Ayush Rana and Ivan-ho defeated Ashok Kunwar 6-0, 6-2.
