KATHMANDU: The politburo of newly formed CPN-Maoist has proposed party secretary CP Gajurel — one of the senior-most leaders of the party — for the post of Vice chairman during the first central committee meeting that kicked off today.

While party general secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa has also proposed standing committee members duo Netra Bikram Chand and Dev Gurung for the post of secretaries of the party.

Presenting a political and organisational proposal to the CC, Thapa has also proposed politburo member Pampha Bhushal for the party’s spokesperson.

Sources also claimed that the politburo has proposed scrapping of the standing committee and the function of the standing committee will accomplish by the five-member office bearers — on which the sole authority stands.

During today’s meeting Chairman Mohan Baidhya had assessed the political developments following

the party’s national gathering that had decided to

give birth to a new party. Baidhya had also clarified the central committee about the questions raised during the gathering.

The politburo has also proposed to stall the proposal of expanding the existing central committee.

General secretary Thapa proposed that the party’s central committee would initiate struggle for national independence, all-sides round table conference and exposing the neo-revisionism character of the UCPN-M leaders Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Baburam Bhattarai so as to prove that their decision to depart with them was correct.

However, the sister organisations will begin struggle on the issues that are directly concerned with the people, Thapa added.

Thapa also proposed for transforming the existing sister wings to conference organising committees to complete their respective conferences as part of the preparations for the upcoming national convention of the party.

The politburo has also proposed to organise the national convention in mid-December instead of February next year. As per the proposal the local committees of the party will work close with the local people helping them in need.

Central committee member Suresh Ale Magar said the party has been discussing on revealing all the property details of all the central committee members of the party so that the people will know how honest the leaders of the CPN-Maoist are.
