"I will scale the Mt Everest by 2012 with the message that world's destructing weapons should be destroyed‚" Sherchan said

KATHMANDU: Octogenarian Min Bahadur Sherchan, who had scaled the Mt Everest at the age of 77, has announced to climb the world's highest peak once again.

"I will scale the Mt Everest by 2012 with the message that world's destructing weapons should be destroyed," Sherchan said at a programme organised by Senior Citizen Foundation in the capital on Tuesday.

Sherchan said, "I want to break my own record of world's oldest person to climb the Mt Everest that I had set by climbing at the age of 77. I urge you all to support in my mission."

The 82-year-old yet energetic Sherchan said the senior citizen themselves should be conscious to ensure their rights as the state only was not in a position to guarantee the rights of the senior citizens.
