LALITPUR: Shreya Dhital and Shirish Gurung dominated the pool at the Satdobato Swimming Complex today in the seventh Pramod Cup Age Group and Open Swimming Championships winning five gold medals each.
Shreya won gold in open women’s 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly, 15-17 yrs 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle apart from claiming the 4X50m freestyle relay in U-17 open girls’ inter-school category.
Shirish, meanwhile, triumphed in the men’s open 200m individual medley, 200m freestyle, 100m butterfly, 13-14yrs 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle.
Shreya timed 1:12.09 minutes in the 100m freestyle ahead of Sophiya Shah (1:18.20) and Oshin Bharati (1:21.19) and clocked 35.31 seconds in 50m butterfly getting the better off Oshin (41.38) and Shreetika Singh (44.81). She also won the 15-17yrs
50m backstroke in 43.47 seconds ahead of Jitzwelly Maharjan (50.43) and Sonira Bista (50.78).
Shreya’s 50m freestyle gold came in 32.50 seconds with Jitzwelly (36.31) and Sonira (39.28) finishing second and third respectively. She then teamed up with Sophiya, Shreetika and her sister Aditi to win the girls’ relay final with a timing of 2:25.63 minutes.
Shirish clocked 2:40.27 minutes to win the 200m individual medley defeating Dilip Thapa Magar (2:49.44) and Manish Chitrakar (2:52.53), while he struck 200m freestyle gold in 2:23.06 minutes. Miraj Prajapati (2:30.14) and Dilip (2:30.63) took silver and bronze respectively. He won the 100m butterfly timing 1:11.57 minutes with Gobinda Karki (1:16.90) and Rajeev Gurung (1:21.47) finishing second and third.
Shirish won the 13-14 yrs 50m backstroke in 36.84 seconds and 50m freestyle in 29.15 seconds. He missed out of another gold in the 50m backstroke in the open men’s category won by Dilip, who timed 35.34 seconds. Shirish took silver in 36.28 seconds, while Miraj timed 37.51 seconds to take bronze. Manish also struck double gold in the opening day winning the boys’ 15-17yrs breaststroke and 50m butterfly.
Sheila Devi Gurung won the open women’s 100m backstroke clocking 1:34.12 minutes ahead of Oshin, who timed 1:36.37 minutes. Jitzwelly took bronze in 1:44.33. In the open women’s 50m breaststroke, Natalia Behrend struck gold timing 47.10 seconds, while Clara Field (47.31) won silver and Sonira (47.82) bagged bronze.
The open men’s 100m breaststroke was won by Prabesh Adhikari after he timed 1:21 minutes with Tika Ram Thapa (1:22.13) and Suman Maharjan (1:25.03) taking silver and bronze. Olympian Prasiddha Jung Shah triumphed in the open men’s 50m freestyle event clocking 27.53 seconds. Dilip (28.37) was once again the runner up finishing second and Shirish (29.28) was third.
Miraj won the boys’ 15-17 yrs 100m freestyle gold, Aditi won girls’ 13-14 yrs 100m freestyle, Angila Syangbo won 50m breaststroke and Sophiya won the 50m butterfly gold.
