KATHMANDU: What does one need to become Miss Nepal? Confidence, presence of mind, beauty and brains? This is what Shristi Shrestha is who was crowned Pushupati Paints Luxuria The Hidden Treasure Miss Nepal 2012 on May 6 at Hotel De’l Annapurna. She is Miss Nepal World 2012.
Along with her ability and talent, her answers to the questions in both the rounds in the grand finale won her the title of the 17th edition of Miss Nepal.
“Tell us something that makes us remember you?” — this was the question the top five contestants were asked. Shristi answered, “I have been chosen as one of the five girls out of so many that applied. I am here and I have gone through the transition from being just a girl to a strong, independent and empowered woman. I believe this transition I have gone through with 15 beautiful ladies, makes us the real jewels.”
This answer stood out in the competition and along with the title, she won a cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with a Pleasure Scooty.
“Each contestant was good, but Shristi had the passion to do something and become someone,” was what choreographer Prasant Tamrakar said after Shristi won the competition.
Subeksha Khadka and Nagma Shrestha were crowned Miss Nepal International and Miss Nepal Earth respectively. Khadka and Nagma won Rs 35,000 and Rs 25,000 cash prize respectively.
The evening started out with these beauties introducing themselves draped in beautiful sarees. Then the Top 10 were selected that further cut to Top Five after the question-answer round.
Out of five, it was Shristi, Nagma and Subeksha who made an impression on the 11 judges that included Kush Kumar Joshi, CEO of Nepal Ekarat Engineering Co Pvt Lt as the Chief Judge, Sadichha Shrestha, former Miss Nepal, actress Reecha Sharma, designer Vishal Kapoor, among others. Not only that in between the selection process the auidence were entertained with dance and song performance each.
In addition to the story of success, the dazzling night of glam and intelligence saw 16 young ladies glide on the stage with elegance and confidence.
