Special Court releases tainted lawmaker on bail

KATHMANDU: The Special Court has issued an order to release Constituent Assembly (CA) member Dol Bahadur Karki, arrested on the charge of taking bribe, on a bail of Rs.500,000.
Similarly, the court has set a bail of Rs.400,000 to release his aide Swami Brahmananda Udasin arrested on the same charge.
A bench of judges Gauri Bahadur Karki, Om Prakash Mishra and Kedar Prasad Cahalise issued the order after the statements of the accused and advocate's pleading on the case today.
The Commission for Investigation for Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a case against Karki seeking a fine of Rs. 450,000 and four years of imprisonment on Monday. He was caught red-handed while taking Rs.100,000 in bribe from a person assuring him of recruitment in the post of police inspector.
