KATHMANDU: Sri Lanka U-23 cruised to their second victory in the ACC Emerging Teams Cup but not before being tested by a patient the United Arab Emirates (UAE) batting lineup for a slim 30-run win. At the Kallang grounds, a composed 101 off 121 balls from opener Shehan Jayasuriya lifted Sri Lanka to 235-8. The UAE were 25-2 early in their chase but an 83-run stand from Shaiman Anwar and Shaqib Ali revived their innings before the team was restricted for 205-9.
Saqib made 71 off 109 with three boundaries and a six, while Anwar struck 53 off 85 with three boundaries. Lahiru Jayaratne took 3-36 for Sri Lanka. Earlier, Jayasuriya hit four fours and three sixes and shared 57 runs for the first wicket with Udara Jayasundera (38). Nasir Aziz took three wickets for the UAE.
