KATHMANDU: Police today detained 31 Nepal Students’ Union activists for resorting to vandalism.
The police action took place while the Nepali Congress-aligned union was organising a torch rally from Pashupati Multiple Campus to the Chabahil Chowk against the government’s reluctance to take action against cadres of the CPN-UML-aligned student union, ANNFSU, accused of attacking NSU cadres in the campus recently.
According to DSP Dhiraj Pratap Singh, spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Range, Hanumandhoka, the Nepal Student Union cadres were arrested while they were about to vandalise a bus belonging to the Department of Livestock Services at the Chabahil chowk.
