UML CC meet underway‚ NC discussing with Maoists

THT ONLINE

KATHMANDU: At a time when the Central Committee (CC) members of the CPN-UML are mulling over the names of their representatives to join the Baburam Bhattarai-led national consensus government at their party headquarters in Balkhu, Nepali Congress (NC) and the UCPN-Maoist are also holding a meeting at Baluwatar over the issues of government formation.

Although eleven of the newly appointed ministers from NC, United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) and the UCPN-Maoist took the oath of office and secrecy on Saturday night, CPN-UML is yet to finalise the party’s team in the government.

It has been understood that either UML leader Bam Dev Gautam or UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokhrel will led the party’s team in the government though dispute over portfolios is expected.

Similarly, even if NC leaders Krishna Prasad Sitaula and Surya Man Gurung were sworn in by Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai on Saturday night they have not been assigned any portfolios.

Sitaula and Gurung—have joined Bhattarai’s cabinet along with nine others from United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) and the UCPN-Maoist as a part of the five-point deal reached among the four major political forces.

A meeting between the four major political parties has been slated for Sunday evening after the CPN-UML and other fringe parties come up with the name of their representatives in the government.
