NEPALGUNJ: A campaign against swine flu has been launched in eight Tarai districts bordering India. With the assistance of UNICEF, local NGOs have started the campaign targeting students aged 5 to 15 years in Banke, Nawalparasi, Chitwan, Saptari, Sunsari, Morang, Jhapa and Ilam districts.
Since students share the lessons they learn with friends and parents, the campaign is being centred in schools of these districts, according to UNICEF. The UN agency is working with the stakeholders to select schools for the drive.
In Banke, the campaign is working with 143 schools in eight VDCs and Nepalgunj municipality, said Dipendra Chaudhari, general secretary of the UNESCO club, Banke. The club
has been conducting two-hour classes each day to raise awareness
on swine flu.
