KATHMANDU: Police on Wednesday arrested three persons including Om Prakash Hamal (26), an alleged mastermind, for ‘robbing a taxi driver and hijacking his vehicle’ from Samakhusi. Police said the gang hired the taxi (Ba 1 Ja 1893) on Tuesday night and robbed the cabbie of Rs 3,000 and a mobile phone set before taking the vehicle away. —

Fatal fall

KATHMANDU: An unidentified woman in her 20s was found dead after she fell from the rooftop of a house in Gongabu on Wednesday. According to police, the woman together with Bipana Adhikari (28) of Lalitpur and Hari Khadka (28) of Nuwakot was staying in room 203 of the Gongabu-based Valley Top Restaurant on Tuesday night. Investigators said they were trying to ascertain why the woman fell from the rooftop of the house adjacent to the restaurant. Police have arrested Adhikari and Khadka for investigation.

Two burglaries

KATHMANDU: Two separate burglaries were reported in the Kathmandu Valley on Tuesday. According to a complaint lodged with police, an unidentified gang barged into the Bag Bazaar-based Oasis Academy and made away with a laptop and Rs 10,000. Likewise, jewelry and other valuables worth Rs 375,000 were burgled from the house of Tara Pokharel in Katunje, Bhaktapur. The suspects are at large.

Man found dead

BHAKTAPUR: A unclaimed body of a man was found in Kamerotar, Madhyapur Thimi- 11 on Tuesday night. Police said the identity of the man in his 40s was yet to be known. Injury marks were not detected on the body. Police have sent the body to TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj for post-mortem.

Training concludes

KATHMANDU: A seven-day training on science journalism and science writing concluded in the Capital on Wednesday calling on emerging science writers and journalists to strive for holistic development of the country. Five writers and scientists had participated in the programme, organised by BP Koirala Memorial Planetarium Observatory and the Science Museum Development Board.
