KATHMANDU: Tendi Sherpa scored 37 points to take the lead of the Himalayan Bank Cup Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Course on Friday. Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, the 11-handicap amateur Tendi scored 18 points on the front nine and added 17 on the back nine. Kalu Ghale, who also scored 37 points, will not be eligible for the main prizes as he is not the member of RNGC. Maj LP Gurung was second with 36 points, while Vivek SJB Rana was third at 34 points. A total of 25 golfers completed their rounds on Friday, while other 68 will play on Saturday.
Heritage Marathon
KATHMANDU: Nepal Investment Bank Limited (NIBL) is organising the third NIBL Heritage Marathon here on Saturday. The marathon — which is organised with the theme “Run for Heritage Conservation” — includes nine events in four categories: open, foreigners, banking & financial institutions and veterans. The open section includes men’s 21km, women’s 10km, school students (girls/boys) 5km. Foreign category include men’s 21km and women’s 10km races while the handicap category will see one-km running competition. In the banker and financial institutes category, races will be held in men’s 10km and women’s 5km, while veterans event will see above-50-year 5km race. NIBL are planning to raise Rs 10 million which will be invested on the restoration project of Bhai Degah Temple in Patan Durbar Square.
