MAHENDRANAGAR: Two persons were injured in a clash that erupted between the cadres of the Tharu Joint Struggle Committee and local entrepreneurs today afternoon.
The incident took place when the entrepreneurs resisted attempts by the bandh enforcers to shut the market places in the mainline east to the post office.
According to the District Police Office Kanchhanpur, Tharu protestor Dasarath Chaudhari and local businessmen Hari Prasad Bhatta were injured in the clash. Condition of both of the injured is reported to be normal.
The Traffic Chowk remained tense following the clash. However, the presence of police averted any possible untoward incident.
Hundreds of Tharu cadres wielding canes had arrived in Mahendranagar bazaar to enforce bandh. Though the market place was opened as usual in the morning, it was shut after the arrival of the bandh enforcers. However, shops in the market opened after 3.30 pm.
