KATHMANDU: CG Automobiles officially launched the new Maruti Suzuki A-Star hatchback on August 5. Powered by a 1L KB10 series engine, the car delivers a maximum power of 68 PS@6,200 rpm and maximum torque of 90 Nm@3,500 rpm. Besides having a peppy look, it also offers excellent fuel
efficiency of 19 kmpl under test conditions.
The company claims that the modifications made in the compact hatchback are in line with customer’s feedback and enhance look and feel while adding comfort. The new version is equipped with beige interiors, two-tone dashboard, new design alloy wheels, rear spoiler, more front leg room, larger rear seat, 50:50 split, rear door bottle holder and music system with USB port. A-star is available in exciting colours like Paradise Blue, Arctic white and Silky silver. The company has also added two new colours — Pearl Caffeine Brown and Glistering Grey.
The New A-star has bagged numerous awards such as Top Gear ‘Small car of the Year 2009’, AutoCar ‘Small car of the Year 2009’, Zigwheels ‘Car of the Year 2009’; Overdrive ‘Technology of the Year 2009-KB10 Engine’, et cetera.
The introductory price of A-Star VXi is Rs 2.033 million and A-Star ZXi is Rs 2.133 million respectively.
