KATHMANDU: Morang Auto Works (MAW), authorised distributor of Skoda Auto, is all set to

roll out its latest C-segment sedan — Skoda Rapid — in the domestic market this summer. The sedan from the European Auto giant Skoda is manufactured by Skoda Auto India. MAW is

planning to introduce three variants of the sedan — Active, Ambition and Elegance — in both petrol and diesel versions.

“We are quite optimistic about this new model of the sedan,” said Deepak Kumar Agrawal, general manager at Skoda Division, MAW, further claiming that the car is

reasonably priced and has much to offer in terms of luxury, comfort, performance and safety. Citing that the Skoda brand image would help boost market

response of the Rapid, Agrawal said, “We are expecting to sell as many as 100 units within the first year of its launch.” Skoda has ensured that its brand value, ‘Simply Clever’ is incorporated in the Rapid in the most effective and efficient form.The sedan comes with an enticing new design, sufficient space, dependable safety equipments, and latest technology. The latest product from Skoda offers extreme levels of comfort and is capable of carrying a family with comfortable ease. Displaying a lot of grace through its design, the Rapid has focussed greatly on the driveability quotient.Skoda Rapid petrol version is assimilated with a manual and automatic transmission, while the diesel version is available with a manual transmission only. Buyers can choose from the five different colour schemes — brilliant silver, candy white, cappuccino beige, deep black pearl and flash red. Rapid has an overall length, width and height of 4,386 mm, 1,699 mm and 1,466 mm respectively, along with a wheel base of 2,552 mm and ground clearance of 168 mm.It is equipped with a 1.6-litre petrol engine that churns out a maximum power of 104 hp at 5,250 rpm and peak torque of 153 Nm at 3,800 rpm. The

1.6-litre diesel engine, on the other hand, is capable of generating a maximum power of 104 hp at 4,400 rpm and a peak torque of 250 Nm at 1,500 rpm to 2,500 rpm.Skoda Rapid carries plethora of special features that speak volumes in terms of creativity and advancement that rule every end of the car. Front passenger seat adjustment from rear seat using ergo-lever,

anti-pinch windows, one-touch operation for electrically adjustable windows, adjust-able dual rear air-conditioning vents, and security code for audio player add class to its interiors.

Moreover, height and length adjustment for steering wheel, fold-away cup holders, rough road package, along with Climatronic that comprise automatic air-conditioning with electronic regulation of cabin temperature offers immense comfort to the occupants.

Driver and front passenger airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS) have found a place in the car that further proves its mettle in terms of safety. The Skoda Rapid is a complete package, with the Skoda 2-DIN integrated audio player comprising aux-in socket and SD/MMC data card reader ensuring an entertaining ride every time.
