Tourist bus seized for defying shutdown

KAWASWOTI: Shutdown enforcers have taken control three vehicles including a tourist bus in Danda, Nawalparasi on Tuesday for defying general strike called by Tharu community.

Different 11 organisations associated to Tharu community organised Terai shutdown today demanding the Terai be carved out into three provinces.

Bandh enforcers have seized a Kathmandu-bound tourist bus (Ba 1 Pa 514), a vehicle belonging to Swiss government development corporation (SDC) and a min truck (Lu 1 Kha 6687) carrying vegetable and seven motorbikes for defying bandh, said Tharu Youth Council Nawalparasi Chairperson Yug Mahato.

Educational institutions, transportation and market areas have been adversely affected due to bandh. The vehicles seized during today will be handed over only after 5.00 pm today, Mahato said.
