DHADING: Highway Community Hospital and Friends of Nepal –– an organisation working in the field of social service –– felicitated a group of tourists led by famous Italian mountaineer and social worker Silvio Mondinelli on Tuesday. Dhading CDO Bed Prasad Kharel, Friends of Nepal chairman Nimanuru Sherpa and Community Hospital Management Committee Chairman Rajendra Prasad Pandey had felicitated the team on the hospital premises.
Landslide wreaks havoc in Jajarkot
JAJARKOT: Hundreds of households have been displaced and others living with the fear of being swept away by landslide in villages in Jajarkot. Landslide has disrupted water supply to many areas and locals have accused officials of ignoring their plight. Landslide triggered by incessant rain, has not been stopped in Cheuri, which is home to more 872 people from 150 Dalit households. Due to the continuous landslide, 38 families have already been displaced. A total of 237 households in Dandagaun have shifted to neighbouring village. Now they are living in their relatives’ house and some are doing so under the open sky.
A team led by Dal Bahadur Gharti, programme officer at District Development Committee, recently visited the affected areas. It said among the displaced, more than 100 were children.
Gharti said more than 100 houses have been partially affected due to the landslide, which has completely obstructed the local water supply.
Dhanbir Chand, a local said, ‘’Villagers are spending sleepless nights.”
It takes 12 hours to walk from district headquarters Khalanga to Cheuri . Chief District Officer Krishna Shyam Adhikari said the government would initiate necessary step to solve the problem as soon as possible.
